ESP Webinar on Challenges in Inderterminate Thyroid Cytology

14 October 2026 | 15:00 - 16:00 CEST

Webinar Overview

Patients with conditions of the Thyroid gland receive a major benefit by cytological examination, both for diagnosis and regular follow-up. This webinar will address the persistent diagnostic challenges posed by indeterminate thyroid cytology. The programme features focused lectures followed by an interactive discussion, offering a practical and up-to-date perspective on optimising the diagnostic pathway for indeterminate thyroid nodules.

Learning objectives:

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise key morphological challenges and diagnostic pitfalls in indeterminate thyroid cytology.
  • Evaluate the current evidence supporting molecular testing in indeterminate cases and identify unmet clinical needs.
  • Appreciate the continuing role of systematic cyto-histological correlation in enhancing the quality and accuracy of thyroid cytopathology.
  • Apply integrated morphological, molecular, and correlative approaches to improve diagnostic confidence and patient management.

Target audience:

Pathologists, Cytopathologists, and residents with an interest in thyroid cytology. Clinicians involved in the multidisciplinary management of thyroid nodules (endocrinologists, surgeons, oncologists). Laboratory professionals seeking to strengthen quality assurance practices in thyroid cytopathology.
